This past month has been a blur. Near the end of 2017 my husband and I drove down to the Florida keys for a week to spend the holidays with my family. It was a beautiful vacation, just a wonderful time. Just a week before we took off on that adventure we received the keys to our new home! Between moving and painting and cleaning and somehow fitting in our family vacation, I’m lucky to know what day it is right now. Life has been very up in the air for us, but in an exciting way.
We could not be happier to be able to say goodbye to renting and finally settle down in our own home 😀 There is much to do here, but making it our own together is something we’ve always dreamed of doing. My hubby, Tony, just told me yesterday how excited he is to help me make my studio space functional. Everything we own is pretty much in boxes and spread all over the house. This is my new studio space at the moment.
I will be setting up in a large portion of our back porch area. It’s all windows on the outside and connects to the garage, where we will be setting up the kilns. It needs some work, but Tony has some great ideas about how to fix it up for me. This new studio will give me much more room to work and grow. I’m itching to get this project going. I miss working with clay. I’m not sure how long it will take, but once we set my studio up here I will not be moving it again for a very long time!
I will update when there is more progress to be shared. I have plans to pit fire in my own yard this summer and I have some new ideas for functional ware I’m eager to start creating. Now it is time to unpack though, peace and love.
I think everything in life seems to take longer than I expect it to. Perhaps I should be used the the fact that I move at a turtle’s pace by now 😛 I think I will embrace the motto “slow and steady”. In any case I have good news to share!
I have had my garage studio up and running for a little while now and things are getting into a rhythm.
I do not have the kiln moved in and set up yet, but I have been producing pottery. I am currently working on stockpiling decorative pots to be pit fired when the weather gets warm.
I have also started working on some large mugs, and pulling handles for the first time since college.
I have plans for more pots and mugs as well as working on different types of planters again. Ceramics had taken a strong hold on me and I have spent all of my creative time as of late focusing on that. I will surly be painting again in the future, but for the time being I have nothing in the works there.
The second bit of good news I have to share is that my online shop up and running now! I was able to make a light box and take nice photographs of the work I have for sale.
Getting the whole system up and running has been a bit of a task, but I believe it is working correctly. PLEASE message me, via the contact form on the sidebar, and let me know if you have any problems trying to purchase something. I will gladly work to resolve any problems that might occur. I just wanted to post a quick update about what’s going on with me as of late. My hubby and I have been fortunate enough to find a really nice little home to rent with an attached garage to use for my studio.
This means that I will be busy moving and organizing for the next month or two, but will be set up better than ever when I’m done. We are very excited about this new chapter in our lives! I’m itching to get back to creating though,so hopefully I’ll be in my new studio sooner rather than later. We’ll see 😉
